UKGOV admit they hold secret Brexit impact reports for these 58 industries

This week the government admitted that they hold Brexit impact reports for 58 sectors of the UK economy.

They have thus far refused to publish these impact reports as they say that it is not in the public interest to do so.

Recently, I wrote an FOI request to find out what the government knows about the impact of Brexit on the UK economy. It was eventually rejected but I have since written to the Information Commissioner to complain and I await a response. I hope to publish some good news on that front soon.

If you work in one of the sectors below why not join me by writing an FOI request and add to the numerous voices trying to make the Brexit process more democratic.

It’s pretty easy to do. You can just email or send a letter to:

DExEU FOI Team
LG20, 9 Downing Street
London
SW1A 2AG

One thing I learnt was that in order to save time and stop them fobbing you off, you need to be specific about the information you want.

For instance, if you say,

I want to know the Brexit impact on Fisheries,

they will probably write to you and ask you to be more specific.

So, it would be best to narrow it down and say something like,

I would like know what your Brexit impact report on Fisheries says about the impact of a soft Brexit on my ability to sell my catch to the European Market. I would also like to know what the report says about the impact of a soft Brexit on fishing quotas and subsidies?

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Here is the official list.
